Keeping Teachers in the Classroom
I’m an educator and helped run New Jersey’s largest alternative energy research center. That’s why I just fought for and voted for the Education Jobs and Medicaid Assistance Act. One of the bill’s top priorities is preserving keeping thousands of New Jersey’s teachers in the classroom. That is the most direct way I know to make sure the American Dream belongs to all of us. We’ll save more than 3,200 teaching jobs - directly affecting tens of thousands of New Jersey students. And we’ve paid for this by making cuts to existing programs. Education opens the doors of opportunity for every child- it is at the heart of the American Dream. It allows us to inspire the next generation who will build the new economy from green jobs to inventing the next great cures to becoming teachers themselves. Yet my opponent would eliminate the Department of Education - he claims that our federal government has no role in educating our children. Wall Street Hedge Fund manager Scott Sipprelle I doubt would have voted for this bill. For someone who has made millions by investing in all kinds of financial schemes, it is shortsighted, extreme and wrong to refuse to invest in schools, students and teachers.
This is about saving jobs and keeping teachers in the classroom today. And creating jobs tomorrow. Because the American Dream belongs to all of us.
