Rep. Holt pushes for online job training

A congressman from New Jersey wants to make job training easier and more accessible by offering it online.

Rep. Rush Holt has introduced legislation amending the federal Workforce Investment Act to provide grants of as much as $100,000 to states implementing or enhancing online workforce investment courses.

The measure also establishes a national center for excellence in online job training to encourage technology-driven teaching methods. The bill is based on a successful online pilot program run by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Rutgers University.
